Black Locust Burl
I love how the straight grain distorts as it swirls into the burl on this thinly turned black locust burl vessel. Black locust is very dense, a property which allows it to be sanded immediately after turning, while it is still green. As a result, the straight grain has taken on a lovely texture while the burl remained smooth through the drying process. The timber for this piece came from a yard tree in Vancouver, WA.
This piece measures approximately 5.25” diameter x 7.25” high.
